As a glass artist, I’m constantly drawn to the hypnotic allure of glass as a material. Originating from a traditional hands-on role in the printing industry, I have always tried to unite the values of craftsmanship and excellence into my bespoke glass designs, resulting in creations that exude both tradition and innovation.

Exploring the rich tapestry of colour and form within my designs, I believe that each piece holds a unique story waiting to be discovered. Encouraging viewers to pause and immerse themselves in the intricacies of the art, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder but also contemplation.

Nestled within our serene studio environment, music and collaboration are at the heart of my creative process. Welcoming clients to share their commission ideas for a handmade glass splashback or a glass garden sculpture, I strive to translate their vision into bespoke pieces that surpass expectations but also bring joy.

From functional handmade glass splashbacks for kitchens and bathrooms to sculptural garden installations, I’m passionate about pushing the boundaries of glass design in unexpected ways. My exploration has led me to experiment with metal and glass sculptures, resulting in dynamic sculptural forms showcased at prestigious exhibitions like Chelsea Flower Show and Cotswold Sculpture Park.

Collaborating with fellow artists has also expanded my artistic horizons, inspiring me to explore new ways of working with the glass and solving complicated ways to involve glass with other media types while exploring the dimensions of light and colour manipulation. Looking ahead, I’m excited to incorporate functional and decorative elements that work in our living spaces within my future designs, pushing myself to conceive an array of, hopefully, captivating artworks.

I am a Glass Artist!  Incredible after so many years as a school teacher to transition to being an artist. Life as a Glass Artist is certainly amazing, always challenging, frequently exciting and immensely rewarding!

I love the new challenges that require me to constantly learn and finesse my techniques and craft. Transforming visions, mine or a clients, into striking works of art that finally deliver stunning colour, depth and character.

The flexibility of working with glass can find me producing an elaborate handmade glass splashback commission one day, to making intricate pieces of silver jewellery that blend with the glass the next. I love it! The commissioning process can be so rewarding.

Even the process of creating my lampwork beads is ‘art in miniature’. Controlling an open flame at 1,000°C, as glass rods glow in the heat while they become soft and malleable, I can layer and blend intricate colour patterns and distort the glass to create amazing results.

I draw much of my inspiration from the ever-changing drift of nature and the breathtaking landscapes of the Dorset coast where I find endless fascination in the curves, angles, colours, and textures that surround me every day.

When I am out on one of our walks I try to take time to pause a moment, to look around me.  There is profound value and joy in simply standing still and watching the world – and often that creativeness comes knocking when you least expect it – it could be a flower turning into a garden sculpture or the sea scene leading to a glass bead design. You just never know.
